ME/CFS San Diego & UCSD graduate student essay competition
ME/CFS San Diego, a California 501c3 non-profit, is delighted to launch a new competition for UCSD graduate students in good standing.
The goal of this competition is to promote thoughtful understanding of the difficulties facing ME/CFS patients and to come up with innovative solutions from different fields.
Win a cash prize!
We are offering a first prize of $500 and the potential opportunity to be published by the Bateman Horne Center, the Massachusetts ME/CFS & FM Association, MEAction, Open Medicine Foundation, and SolveME in their non-profit publications to reach a wide audience. Second and third cash prizes will also be offered if there is sufficient participation.
Essay title: What Would You Do to Make a Difference for ME/CFS Patients?
We are looking for an essay that can offer creative, thoughtful solutions and/or insight into how to help patients with reference to the disease’s impact on any aspect of their quality of life, and level of functioning. Proposals for improvements can be at a global, national, local, or personal level.
Key factors used to evaluate essays (e.g., originality, clarity, argumentation, relevance to topic, would like to see ideas from different perspectives based on different academic backgrounds - solutions are not limited to medical or biomedical science-based solutions but can be from a wide variety of fields including engineering, public relations, legislative, economic, journalistic, computer science… options)
It might help to consider:
What is the gap between what you knew before and after you started learning about ME/CFS?
What area of your studies might pose solutions to difficulties faced by patients with ME/CFS?
